Computer-based testing for USMLE™ began with Step 1in May 1999, followed by Step 2 in August 1999, and CBT for Step 3 began in November 1999. Each Step is now available throughout the year, except for the first two weeks in January. Computer-based administration allows increased examination security, enable new assessment methods to be utilized, and provide greater flexibility in scheduling test dates. USMLE is delivered at Sylvan Technology Centers® Step I and Step II can be taken at STCs around the world, and Step 3 exclusively at STCs in the United States and its territories. Sylvan centers provide the uniform environment and resources necessary for secure administration of USMLE.
